About Y.E.T. Compassion

Youth Evangelism Training (Y.E.T.) Compassion equips South Sudanese diaspora youth with the Gospel of Christ and the practical skills to lead with integrity, build stable families, and transform their communities. Every program is grounded in Scripture, shaped by mentorship, and built for lasting impact.

What began in 2006 as grassroots mission work in South Sudan was formalized in 2025 when Evangelist Gai Bol Luom registered Y.E.T. Compassion as a nonprofit in Nashville, Tennessee. The organization received IRS-approved 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status in 2026 — building on nearly two decades of faithful service to South Sudanese communities in the United States, South Sudan, and beyond.

The organization’s four program pillars — Faith & Discipleship, Leadership & Mentorship, Family & Empowerment, and Community & Diaspora — frame the work it carries into churches, classrooms, and community spaces across two continents.

The Brief

Y.E.T. Compassion came to PyStatR+ in early 2026 with a specific and constrained set of needs. The newly-registered nonprofit required:

  • An institutional web presence appropriate to its 501(c)(3) status and donor expectations
  • A clear articulation of its programs, history, and mission for prospective supporters
  • A donation pathway suitable for a nonprofit at this stage
  • A timeline component capable of representing nearly two decades of grassroots mission history
  • A blog and events surface for ongoing communication
  • A reproducible technical foundation that the organization or future contributors could maintain without bespoke vendor lock-in

The constraints were equally clear: no e-commerce, no custom application backend, no maintenance burden requiring a developer on retainer.

The Engagement

The engagement followed PyStatR+’s standard Quarto Publishing Research & Course tier scope:

Discovery and scoping — A series of conversations with Evangelist Gai Bol Luom clarified the organization’s voice, audience priorities (donors, prospective volunteers, partner churches, diaspora community), and content priorities (mission history, programs, donation pathway, events).

Information architecture — A four-pillar navigation aligned to the organization’s program structure, with a prominent mission-history timeline as the editorial centerpiece on the homepage and a clear donor pathway in the primary navigation.

Visual identity within Quarto constraints — Custom SCSS theme integrating the organization’s colors, faith-grounded iconography, and a typographic system optimized for both narrative content and donor-facing trust signals.

Content authoring infrastructure — Page templates for programs, blog posts, events, and mission history entries — each documented so future editorial contributors can extend the site without engineering involvement.

Donation integration — A secure donation pathway appropriate for a 501(c)(3) at this stage, integrated with the chosen payment provider and visually surfaced across the site without becoming intrusive.

SEO and structured data — JSON-LD organization schema, Open Graph and Twitter Card metadata across every page, sitemap, and canonical URL structure to ensure discoverability for prospective donors searching for related causes.

Reproducible deployment — Site deployed on Netlify with automatic rebuilds from a Git repository the organization owns. No PyStatR+ dependency for ongoing publishing.

The Deliverable

The live site at yetcompassion.org shipped with:

  • A full institutional homepage featuring the organization’s mission, four-pillar program structure, and a navigable mission-history timeline spanning 2006 to present
  • Dedicated program pages for each of the four pillars (Faith & Discipleship, Leadership & Mentorship, Family & Empowerment, Community & Diaspora)
  • An About section detailing the organization’s history, leadership, and 501(c)(3) status
  • An events surface for upcoming gatherings, programs, and outreach
  • A blog system for ongoing communication with supporters
  • A contact pathway for partnership and volunteer inquiries
